Record Attendance at Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College Fall Festival

Posted November 4, 2022 by Brett Fredenberg

KANSAS CITY, Mo – Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College’s Fall Festival on October 28 drew more than 1,000 students, staff, faculty, and community members to campus for free food and fun.

This year’s Fall Festival featured attractions for all ages, with additional festivities in honor of President Jason Allen’s 10-year anniversary.

“This year’s Fall Festival was the best we have had in all of my ten years at Midwestern Seminary,” said President Jason Allen. “The fellowship, food, games, and attractions were all superb, and I am so thankful for our staff who made it possible. It is truly a remarkable time to be at Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College, and this year’s Fall Festival was testimony to that.”

Tim Adams, director of Student Life, led the seminary’s efforts for another successful Fall Festival.

Adams, who began his role in October, is passionate about bringing students, staff, faculty, and community members together in fellowship. The Fall Festival event marks one of the many events on Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College’s campus designed to promote community, fellowship, and fun. This year’s Fall Festival drew more people to campus than ever before.

During the evening of Fall Festival, attendees participated in activities such as carnival rides, inflatables, and more. Everyone enjoyed the firework show to close the evening. In addition to a free dinner, attendees also enjoyed hot chocolate, apple cider, and fall snacks of all kinds.

“This year was our biggest Fall Festival yet,” Adams said. “We welcomed more than 1,000 students, staff, faculty, and community members to campus for this year’s event. In addition to seeing the new attractions and expanded fun features for all ages, it was a delight simply to be together.”

Throughout the evening, families gathered at picnic tables, students enjoyed fall games, and everyone came together for several fun activities, including a pie eating contest.

Many attendees also dressed up in costumes for a costume contest. Prizes were given to winners in several different games during the night.

Reflecting on the event, Adams said, “My favorite part of the evening was near the conclusion of the fireworks show. As people stood in the parking lot to enjoy the finale of the fireworks, it was just a beautiful picture and reminder. These are special days!”

“To be able to gather the collective Midwestern Seminary and Spurgeon College community, a community that is on mission, and just enjoy each other’s company is special. Seeing each family have fun as each prepares to be sent across the globe to serve the Lord is a rewarding experience. I was overwhelmed with gratitude to be a part of this community.”

Events such as the Fall Festival require detailed planning and the efforts of a team, Adams said. “We try to think through every detail to ensure people have a great experience. Ultimately, we want to produce an event that everyone in attendance has something to be excited about, from the family toddler to students and staff.”

He continued, “Truly all credit for the success of Fall Festival should go to Kristen Lanier, assistant director of Student Life, Clara Sylvester, assistant director of Events, and all our Student Leaders. They are the ones ensuring that every detail is covered and executed with joy. They are truly a blessing to our community.”
