The Student Body Association (SBA) is the official organization for student government on campus and operates in cooperation with the Student Development Office. The SBA promotes student interests and works to provide activities and events to keep up with the needs of a growing campus community. SBA organizes activities that are directed at both couples and singles, as well as activities that help integrate new students into campus life. The current president of SBA is Jack Belcher, and he presides over a team of seven officers and members. SBA elections are held in April each year, and all interested and eligible students are encouraged to run for office.
SBA is a crucial part of Student Life at Midwestern. Several times a semester, the SBA hosts the Latte coffeehouse (see that page for more details!). SBA also organizes events such as Movie & Game nights, Bonfires, Community Pot Luck dinners, Off-Campus Trips, Intramural Sports and a Spring Retreat for students. Finally, this fall SBA is kicking off Midwestern’s first ever Welcome Week for new students!
Interested in being involved? Don’t wait… come and check out what SBA has on the calendar! We consider you a vital part of student life here at Midwestern!
SBA is always open to new ideas and seeks input from other students. Please contact Amy Gilmore in the Student Development office at agilmore@mbts.edu or (816) 414-3735 with any ideas, suggestions, or questions regarding SBA.
A Letter From Your SBA President:
Dear Fellow Student at Midwestern,
The 2011-2012 academic year at MBTS will definitely be one of the most historic in our seminary history. This year with record enrollment both in the college and the seminary along with the much-anticipated completion of the new chapel building only sets the stage for greater gospel advancement locally and globally.
My prayer for each and every one of us is that this year would be a year of great personal and corporate revival. Many of you serve in, lead in, and pastor local churches in the area. We desperately need to seek the Lord with a greater intensity like never before and seek the people he loves like never before. This year the Student Body Association will seek to provide various events for social and spiritual development. We will seek to inspire, inform, and equip more students to participate in our prayer and outreach activities.
Lets declare war this year on “going through the motions” and settling for the status quo in our walk with Christ. I challenge each and every one of you to pray for one another and for the faculty and administration of Midwestern. May the presence of the Lord and the glory of God be manifest this year. May God send a revival and may it begin with us. May we pray the prayer of Evan Roberts, the human instrument God used mightily in the Wales awakening, “Lord, bend me”. Please email me or call me if I can pray with you or help you in any way.
