Dr. Robin Hadaway has served as Associate Professor of Missions at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary since October of 2003. Previously, he and his wife Kathy have been missionaries with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention for a total of 18 years. Hadaway was a strategy coordinator, cluster leader, and church planter in a closed country in North Africa and earlier as a church planter in Tanzania. More recently, Hadaway served as the IMB Regional Leader for Eastern South America, supervising over 300 missionaries in Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay. He also has been a senior pastor for churches in California and Arizona and attained the rank of captain in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Alaska and Nevada. Hadaway holds graduate degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Hadaway also attended Dallas Theological Seminary. His undergraduate degree is from Memphis State University. He is a native of Tallahassee, Fla., and is married to the former Kathy Baze of Phoenix, Ariz. They have three grown children.

The Midwestern Food Pantry is located in the Koehn & Myers Center (lower level, back side), and is available to all admitted MBTS students and their families. It is generally open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 4 - 7 p.m. Students may pick up food only for themselves and immediate family members (not for roommates or neighbors).

The Vine’s Café knows how busy you are! Running home for lunch will take up valuable time that you could be using to study. Maj. Rick Carroll, director of the local Salvation Army congregation located just across N. Oak from our campus, has graciously agreed to allow Midwestern students to use their beautiful, new gymnasium. If you and some friends or family would like to use the facility for basketball, volleyball, etc., just call their office first to confirm availability. Carroll said daytime hours are best. Please identify yourself as a Midwestern student. The gym is located at 5306 N. Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64118. Their office phone number is (816) 452-5663.

GRADE REPORTS - Fall 2009 grades will be available for viewing in your student portal. Grade cards will not be mailed unless specifically requested through the Registrar’s Office. If you would like to have a grade card mailed, please contact the Registrar’s Office in person or by e-mailing registrar@mbts.edu.
LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING - During chapel on Dec. 8 & 9, there will be a special time of giving to support the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Also, anyone unable to make the chapel services may give to Lottie Moon through the MBTS Business Office now through the Christmas season. Please make any checks out to MBTS and notate that the offering will go to Lottie Moon. Thank you for supporting our International Missionaries through your special gift!
CHRIS CAKES PANCAKE DINNER - As the semester winds down, a finals tradition continues. On Dec. 15 in the Koehn & Myers Center, the Chris Cakes Pancake Dinner will take place between 6 p.m. and 1 a.m. Come and get filled up, re-energized and ready to finish the semester with style. ATTENTION GRADUATING STUDENTS - Applications for graduation are due in the Registrar’s Office no later than Dec. 17. Graduation application forms are available in the Registrar’s Office or on the website under Admissions/Helpful forms/Academic forms. A graduation fee of $150 for doctoral graduates; $125 for graduate/undergraduate students; or $45 for Diploma for the Ministering Wife/Certificate students will be due by May 1, 2010. This fee includes your picture, diploma, academic apparel, etc. If you plan to graduate on May 22, 2010, be sure to submit your application before Dec. 17, 2009.

CAMPUS-WIDE CHRISTMAS CAROLING - This month’s family event will take place on Dec. 21. Families will go caroling around campus and then warm up with some hot chocolate. The kids will be able to decorate Christmas cookies at the Koehn & Meyers Center. Everything will kick off around 2 p.m.
J-TERM SCHEDULE CHANGE - CE8200 Life Span Development has been changed from a 2 week J-term course to a 1 week J-term course. The on-campus dates are Jan. 18-22 from 8 a.m. - noon and 1 – 5 p.m. The pre-course work begins Dec. 21. Please contact the Registrar’s Office to register for this course.
OPPORTUNITY FOR EXTRA HOLIDAY CASH - The Salvation Army is hiring Holiday Bell Ringers for five -hour shifts in 25 locations in the Northland area, Nov. 6 through Dec. 24. CHURCH EVANGELISM J-TERM COURSE OFFERED - A 2 credit hour MN5224 course on “Church Evangelism” that is a requirement for all M.Div. North American Church Planting students will be offered on Jan. 11-15, 2010. The class will cover issues such as: how to lead your church for evangelism; spiritual gifts and involving church members in evangelism; a look at numerous evangelistic programs; and future trends in effective evangelism. POST - 9/11 G.I. BILL - Are you waiting for your VA Education Benefits? The Department of Veterans Affairs has made funds available for Veteran students who are still awaiting their education benefit claim to be processed. Eligible veterans can receive up to a $3000 advance, which will be recouped from future benefit payments. If you are a student who applied for one of VA’s education programs and have not yet received your monthly benefit payment for the Fall 2009 term, you can request a one-time advance payment at your local VA Regional Office or through VA’s website, www.va.gov.
EUROPE STUDY TOUR 2010 - Join Drs. Mike McMullen, Thor Madsen and Rodney Harrison for the Europe Study Tour 2010 to Germany and Switzerland. The dates are June 18 - July 3, and the cost is $2200, including up to 7 hours of academic credit (graduate or undergraduate). A week-long extension (and 3 additional hours) is available for $500. TUTORS NEEDED AT MISSION - The City Union Mission is seeking tutors for its after-school program Mondays through Thursdays from 4 - 5 p.m. (for the community) and from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. (for guests in the shelter). The folks at the mission are requesting volunteers to help out either occasionally or regularly if possible. NEW SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE - If you are a full-time master’s, D.Min., or Ph.D. student who was a resident of Georgia and endorsed by a Georgia Baptist church at the time of enrollment, you may be qualified to receive a new scholarship that’s available to MBTS. For spring 2010, the Georgia Baptist Foundation Seminary Scholarship for $300 is now available. EVANGELISM RESPONSE CENTER - Would you like to share the gospel and minister to people across North America without even leaving your own home? The Evangelism Response Center (ERC) is part of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. It exists to share the Gospel and pray with people over the telephone and Internet. Respondents contact the ERC by phone and Internet after seeing the ERC telephone numbers and Internet addresses on TV ads and programs, radio ads and programs, tracts, print ads, articles, and billboards, etc. The ERC provides a network of volunteers throughout North America who have been trained to communicate the message of Jesus Christ to people by telephone and internet. These Telephone Encouragers and Internet Encouragers make up a new and exciting category of Southern Baptist missions volunteers. You can now share the Gospel with receptive people from all over the United States and Canada from the comfort, safety, and privacy of your own home!
