posted in Articles, on Nov 12, 2009 by Staff

Students and staff, do you urgently need help with your finances or desire to help someone who does?  Do you want to manage your money better and get out of debt?  You can!  Come learn how at the “It’s a New Day” seminar on Dec. 3 in the MBTS Chapel.

The hours for the conference will be 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  The registration fee for MBTS students, staff and their spouses is waived.  For any other participants, the cost of the conference is $20, and spouses can attend at no additional charge.  Lunch will be included.

Students in attendance can opt to take the workshop for 1 hour of credit toward their degree, and the tuition cost is only $50 – a significant discount.

NOTE: For anyone with student loans, attendance is mandatory.

Considering the country’s financial crisis, this may be one of the most important training opportunities you’ll encounter this year.

The seminar is being offered by Crown Financial Ministries, one of America’s most respected organizations, which teaches Christians how to handle finance and budgeting according to Bible-based principles.  Crown is partnering with both the Southern Baptist Convention and the Missouri Baptist Convention.

You’ll receive valuable lessons in money management, and also will see how you can teach others how to get out of debt and move to a financial lifestyle based on Christian stewardship principles.

Sessions will present basic Bible principles on stewardship and teach participants specific steps on how to first get out of debt and then live debt free.  Sessions will also include budget planning and how to handle credit cards, cars and housing expenses.

Amid the current financial crisis, Christians urgently need good money management skills, both at home and at church.  These seminars will begin to address that need.

Ultimately the goal is to help Christians use their money in ways that honor God, rather than being enslaved by their poor financial decisions.  Seminar participants will learn how to identify such hidden hazards in their spending so they can move toward financial freedom.  Sessions will also identify attitudes about money that can hinder spiritual development.
