Shannon Scott has been pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Raleigh, N.C., since 1978. Scott previously served as pastor of First Baptist Church in Micro, N.C., Avalon Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, N.C., and Harris Chapel Church in Youngsville, N.C. Graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Campbell University, Scott went on to complete a Master of Divinity degree at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Divinity from Emmanuel Bible College & Seminary in Rajasthan, India. He is presently on the Board of Directors for the North Raleigh Christian Academy as well as serving on various committees within the North Carolina Baptist Convention. His hobbies and interests include traveling, camping, hiking and gardening. Scott and his wife, Zelma, have 2 children, Vanessa and Jarrod, and six grandchildren.
