Doctoral Admissions

Doctoral Programs

Midwestern offers three doctoral-level programs:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Old Testament or New Testament
  • Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)
  • Doctor of Educational Ministry (D.Ed.Min.)

Professional Doctoral Programs

The D.Min. and D.Ed.Min. programs at MBTS are seminar based, which means there is no need to relocate to Kansas City. Doctoral-level coursework completed at another ATS accredited institution may transfer in as elective credit, shortening the number of trips a student would need to make to our main campus. When travel is required, please know that our campus is only 15 minutes from the airport, and we have limited commuter housing available on campus for our doctoral students during their seminars.

To find out more about the course study for these degrees, please visit our Degree Programs page under the Academics section.

Ph.D. Program

MBTS’s newest doctoral degree track is the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program. This research degree offers majors in Old Testament and New Testament. The Ph.D. is intended primarily to equip our students for vocations of teaching and research in theological schools, colleges and universities, or for the scholarly enhancement of ministerial practice.
