ONLINE CLASSES

For students who live too far away to attend classes in Kansas City, Midwestern has brought the classroom to them. Students can work toward a degree without moving to the main campus in Kansas City through online classes.

Two online courses are offered each fall and spring semester for degree seeking students or as a means of continuing education. Generally, online classes run throughout the regular academic semester. Through the seminary website, students receive two videos each week of classes taught on campus. Students can participate at their convenience, provided they meet deadlines as outlined in the course syllabus.

Online courses at Midwestern are designed for students who seek a high level of interactive learning. These courses contain actual video recordings of class sessions. The student's computer screen will display a larger screen of the lecture in Power Point format (along with any notes the professor writes on the board), plus a small screen of the professor and class members (at four slides per second, not in full motion). Assignments, chat rooms, tests and papers enable students and the professor to interact on issues raised during the class.

Tuition for online classes is $190 per credit hour for qualified Southern Baptists, $230 for other Baptist denominations, and $300 for all others (as of June 2005).
