MORTON-SEATS INSTITUTE
The mission of the Morton-Seats Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology is to study ancient and modern people groups primarily in North Africa and the Middle East. The Institute seeks to accomplish its mission in several ways:
- By offering Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary students the opportunity to participate in accredited archaeological excavations and anthropological field studies abroad,
- By supporting the Master of Arts in biblical archaeology degree program at Midwestern Baptist Seminary,
- By providing a permanent and public display area for the Morton Collection of Biblical Artifacts and the Seats Mission Artifact Collection, and
- By developing and maintaining a research center for the ongoing archaeological and anthropological study of the ancient and modern people groups in North Africa and the Middle East.
The Institute occupies office space on the campus of the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo. The Morton and Seats collections are owned by Midwestern Seminary. Midwestern Seminary is also an institutional member of the American Schools of Oriental Research.
