How Do I Find Journal Articles?
The MBTS Library provides online periodical databases which index a variety of subjects. These are listed on the Web-based Database page [ http://www.mbts.edu/academics/library/web_based_databases/accessed via the Library’s web page. Most require your Blackboard login. Some databases offer the bibliographic citation only (title, author, journal name, volume, year, etc.). Other databases offer full text articles as well, allowing you to read the articles online.
If you find an article that you need, but it is not full text, you may request it via interlibrary loan. If you are using an EBSCOHost database, you can use the link "Request this article from another library", fill out the form, and submit it. If you use another database, you may send the citation to the following email: ill@mbts.eduor jhowie@mbts.edu. We will contact you when the article arrives at the Library, or forward it to your campus e-mail.
You may also want to check EBSCO A to Z to see if the journal is available on another database. This is not an index of individual articles, but a list of all the full text periodical resources available to MBTS students and faculty.
For the specific issues of print journals that MBTS owns, look up the title of the journal in the MBTS online catalog: http://www.mbts.edu/academics/library

Wondering how to find digital DMIN projects?
Here is the instructions for Finding Digital D.Min. Projects...
Many of our MBTS D.Min. projects are available electronically. This can be summarized in 3 steps:
1.Find the dissertation(s) you want in our online catalog. Go to the MBTS Library website at http://www.mbts.edu/academics/library/. There you will find links to both versions of our online catalog: Encore (the default method, which uses the search box inside a red box) and the Classic Catalog (which has a link inside the red box.) Both versions will allow you to search for D.Min. projects. Then search for midwestern project (a keyword search in the Classic Catalog). The record for a D.min. project will list a TREN number such as TREN 054-0226. You may need to select the title link to show all copies available. In Encore you can also select the link for More Info.
2.Compile a list of the D.min. Projects you want.In Encore, select the Add to Cart link. Then select My Cart at the top of the screen. In Classic Catalog, select the Mark box next to the items you want and select Save Marked Records. Then select Export Saved List. Both methods allow you to send your selected list as an email. It is recommended that you first send yourself a copy of the email in order to keep a record of your requests. Another way is to copy and paste the title, author, and TREN number into an email message using the email account you normally use. Send the information in an email to Rusty Tryon, our Acquisitions Librarian at rtryon@mbts.edu or contact him by phone at 816-414-3726. The D.Min. project will be sent to you as an email attachment, usually within one working day.
3. To find digital D.Min. projects from schools other than MBTS, go to the TREN site at http://www.tren.com/ and select the link for e-docs.Then select the “more search options” link near the “search e-docs” box on the left side of the screen. In the “Search for Theses/Dissertations” section, search by keyword in the title to search. If you already know the title you want from a bibliography or from searching in Worldcat, you can search by school and/or author’s last name or a keyword in the title. You may purchase the dissertations online directly from TREN for immediate use, but MBTS Library can provide them for you for free. To get them from MBTS LIbrary make a note of the Order number when you find the item, and email the information to Rusty Tryon at the email above.
