EXTENSION CLASSES & SITES
The distance learning program at MBTS utilizes three modes of courses to offer a complete Masters of Divinity (M. Div) degree to students outside the KC Metro Area. To complete a degree, distance education students need to take classes in the on-line format, extension classes in the area and J-term classes offered in the summer and winter terms. Workshops offered throughout the semester will also count toward the required on-campus time.
For students who live too far away to attend classes in Kansas City, Midwestern has brought the classroom to them. Students can work toward a degree without moving to the main campus in Kansas City through extension classes offered in cities closer to you. You can begin the pursuit of your formal theological training in your own home or by attending classes for one week on campus. The greatest advantage of this program is that it allows you to pursue your degree while maintaining your work and ministry where you live.
Established extension sites include: St. Louis, Mo., Wichita, Kan., and Tulsa, Okla. Courses are also occasionally offered at: Des Moines, Iowa. and Bolivar, Mo. These courses are taught by Midwestern faculty members who commute to the extension site or by qualified adjuct faculty. This provides a unique opportunity for students to continue serving a local congregation while obtaining a formal theological classroom education.
