ADVANCED STANDING PROGRAM

Through the MBTS Advanced Standing Program, students may be able to test out of up to 14 credit hours of work toward a first professional degree, like the MDiv and MACE degrees.

Requirements

Students who wish to test out of designated master’s level courses must:

  1. Have taken courses of the same general content at the undergraduate level, as certified by the MBTS registrar.
  2. Have received either an A or a B in the comparable undergraduate courses.
  3. Have achieved an overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Testing Procedures and Cost

Students who wish to test out of a course will be charged a $35 per credit hour testing fee and given a study guide for that course one week before taking the qualifying examination. If the student does not take the examination within the allotted time, he forfeits the option of testing out of that course. If the student passes the examination, he will receive a ‘P’ on his transcript. If he fails the examination, he will be required to take that course and will not be given the opportunity to retake the qualifying examination. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he does not attempt the qualifying examinations so late in his program that he loses the ability to take the required course when it is offered.
