Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary & College, SBC, is an integrated auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention. Owned and operated by Southern Baptists, the school is governed by a board of 35 trustees, seven of whom are elected annually during the Southern Baptist Convention.
Upon founding the seminary in 1957, Midwestern’s trustees declared that the seminary would adopt, as its own, the Statement of Baptist Faith and Message, which had been adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 1925. The SBC ratified a revised Baptist Faith and Message statement in 1963, and most recently when the BFM was amended in 2000, Midwestern affirmed that statement, and it continues to constitute the seminary’s statement of faith.
